Ingredients: Award winning recipe from several years ago in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
1 (4 lb) beef brisket
1/2 tsp pepper
1 cup sliced onion, separated into rings
1/2 cup chili sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (12 oz) bottle beer
2-1/2 tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp water
Black pepper (optional)
Halved tomato slices (optional)
Fresh parsley sprigs (optional)
Directions:
  1. Trim fat from brisket.
  2. Place in a 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle top of brisket with pepper; arrange onion rings.
  4. Combine chili sauce, brown sugar, garlic and beer; pour over brisket.
  5. Cover and bake 3 hours.
  6. Uncover and bake additional 20 minutes 'til tender.
  7. Place brisket on serving platter, reserve cooking liquid.
  8. Set brisket aside; keeping warm.
  9. Make gravy; see frame below.
